  Dear All,

 

   As many of you know already from Silvia’s presentation today (https://indico.bnl.gov/event/18688/contributions/75448/attachments/47059/79814/ePIC_general_meeting_20230414_backward_RICH.pdf), the ePIC Spokesperson and Executive Board unanimously recommended changing the baseline detector configuration to utilize the pfRICH design as the backward PID solution.

 

   This decision will still need to be endorsed by the Collaboration Council and this will be taken up at the meeting on April 21^st.

 

   Once the CC has endorsed this measure, the EIC project will initiate the formal Change Control process to achieve the blessing of the DOE.

 

   In the next days and weeks, a small team will be reaching out to the mRICH group to begin discussions on how best to move forward together to realize the backward RICH and how to structure the associated Detector Subsystem Collaboration group.

 

   Thank you everybody for your hard work over the last six months! Needless to say that more effort will be needed to actually realize this detector, and we hope we can move forward as a unified team.
