Here is an update on Mirror work for this/past week until today.

 

• New air regulator arrived Friday and was installed yesterday. It took Preet and me a long time to set it up, as we discovered there was a leak in the air system. After giving the entire system a bath with soapy water, it turned out there might have been a leak since the beginning. The previous air compressor broke might be caused by this leak such that it kicks in too often and over-cycled it until it died. The leak was found at a few connections to the cryo pump (gate) [1], which is not in use. After we dissemble the whole air system and reconnect everything, now the air system works really well.
• We ordered the Die and Tap for repairing the bolts for the evaporation door. ETA Friday and next Monday, we will clean up and fix the thread.
• We tested the pump down and we achieved the previous best vacuum state around 3.5x10**-6 torr. The leak into the chamber previously was indeed the feedthroughs, where bolts were not tightened enough.

 

Summary:

Our next coating, although we have been saying this for weeks, will be late next week. It will be testing the new mounting mechanism with small flat samples and we will recalibrate our deposition amount based on this.

[1]  Preet mentioned that the issue related to the cryo pump before was somehow related to some leaks, this may or may not be the issue but we noted just in case we want to repair the cryo when we ever get to it..
