looks like the Ration of thickness Cr/Al may be a "measure" of success? and 0.25 is a sweet spot?
cheers,

Dear all,
Since we didn’t have a meeting again this week, we post our slides here for a timely communication.
Summary:
We performed 6 new coatings and we found that the micro-voids (between Carbon Fiber and Lexan) will not cause any issues for reflectivity. Instead, the micro-voids seem to improve reflectivity due to Epoxy may absorb lights (like in UV range). See details in slides.
https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1ClLPkPPl_1f2ryu3RoweQPrIog-xzivwQQZkWIt5ET8/edit?usp=sharing
In addition, we are getting close to find the optimal coating recipe for the new fixture, which will be used for the full-scale mirror. So far, we have seen a reflectivity that is entirely above 90% for 300 to 600 nm. More coatings are needed to stabilize this finding.
For this week and next:
We will continue to perform coating tests to find the optimal recipe and understand some details. Depending on the availability of the Purdue samples, we will repeat our tests on their substrates as well. Then we aim to conclude the co-bonding test soon, and ask Purdue to proceed to the production of full-size mirror.
Side note on Ion-gun installation:
We are close to getting all necessary parts (e.g., getting vendors approved by SBU) and we will be bench test most of fittings soon when we are not coating. Ideally, during the time that Purdue will be making the full-size mirror, we will install Ion gun and perform basic tests. This work will not interfere our progress on normal coating operation.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
Thanks!
Preet, Jan, and Kong
