I thought I read somewhere that some of the plug-in level II chargers are not properly grounded when not hard wired.  Sadly, LESC seems to actively try and thwart this program.  Common sense does not apply.

Thanks for bringing up this point....

I've seen some of the cheaper ones too, but please keep in mind that some of these products may not have UL certification. Plugging something without such certification into an outlet at BNL can lead to corrective actions against yourself and endanger the existing EVCP - we are being granted access to these outlets through good behavior. And (as Nick can recall) there are LESC people on the lookout for misbehavior.

Worse, Bldg. 515 is in the middle of the already-congested heart of the BNL campus where we already have more users than outlets. Sigh.
