Dear NP PIs,

 

The Nuclear Physics (NP) and the Advanced Scientific Computing Research (ASCR) Program Offices released a SciDAC-5 call for proposals. 

The details are described in the following document.

Here are a few important points.

• A proposal team must be multi-institutional.
• The lead institution must be one of the DOE SC or NNSA national labs.
• Letters of Intent are required.
• Lead PI must be a discipline scientist (representing NP).
• A proposal must build a collaboration with at least one of the SciDAC Institutes.
• Due dates:

• Letters of Intent: February 24, 2022
• Proposals:  April 26, 2022

Performance period:  5 years Total funding available:  up to $35M over 5 years. Proposal funding:

• Overall proposal:

• Ceiling:  $2.75M per year
• Floor:  $250K per year

Individual institution in a proposal:

• Ceiling:  $1.25M per year
• Floor $250K per year

BNL is limited to no more than two letters of intent or applications.

 

We encourage all interested, after careful reading of the FOA, to develop a two-page letter of Intent (template will be provided next week) and send them to John Hauser (hauser AT bnl.gov) by January 25, 2022, in order that he may compile a list of all potential proposals from BNL.

 

We will schedule brief presentations of all proposals on February 2, 2022, (templates shall be forthcoming) and by February 10, 2022, we plan to inform all about which two proposals are selected to submit LoIs to DOE on February 24, 2022.
