I don't think this is particularly suited to a software group but FYI.

Hi all,

                Please consider nominating people in your group for this year’s LOSA program, and send the nomination to me.

                We nominated a few people for the 2020 program, but some of them did not complete the program because of COVID.   Please consider renominate them.

                Best,

                Hong.

Hi all,

As you know the Laboratory Operations Supervisor Academy (LOSA) has been on hiatus during the pandemic.  The Battelle Operations Council has noticed the effect on our collective operations and we have agreed to restart the program the week of February 7th.   We see LOSA as mission critical to the foundation of a strong safety and operational culture.

LOSA is a two-day development opportunity for those who supervise, oversee or approve work activities or manage lab, research, or facility spaces.  With Safe Conduct of Research (SCoR) principles as a foundation, LOSA intentionally brings together leaders from research and support organizations to help bridge divides and build a unified culture of excellence and resilience.

LOSA uses a fast-paced, simulation-intensive approach that effectively integrates training, case-study discussions, individualized feedback, and cross-lab networking for a rich learning opportunity.  Participants will:

  • apply SCoR principles to realistic situations in a safe environment;
  • give and receive immediate individualized feedback across several dimensions;
  • meet and learn from senior laboratory leaders, soft skill observers/coaches; and
  • engage with and learn from peers.

Enrollment:

  • There will be two sessions every month - hosted by Battelle’s Columbus Operations.  Participants will need to arrive in Columbus the evening before and can plan to depart after 4:00PM on the last day of the program.  There will be COVID-19 controls imposed at the Battelle facility that we will be expected to adhere to.
  • There are no enrollment costs - refreshments and lunch are provided.

The Lab has seats for two (possibly three) participants per session.  Participants will need to arrive in Columbus the evening before and can plan to depart after 4:00PM on the last day of the program.  The schedule for the next several months is below.   For the February programs we need to have nominations by January 15th.   Please send nominations to Maggie Sullivan maggie AT bnl.gov.
