Dear Collaborators,

As discussed at numerous meetings, thanks to heroic efforts by Chris and support from BNL we now have the technical basis for the sPHENIX data production system, without which we would not be able to process our data and do any physics.

We now need to assemble a teamĀ  to test and commission the production system, and then run the production of our data in collaboration with SDCC, NPPS, Jason Webb (lead developer), and the core software team led by Chris. The leadership position for this team ("sPHENIX production manager") requires good organizational and communication skills and a good knowledge of Python and computing in general. The production manager will lead a team to oversee data production 24/7 for 2023 (and possibly beyond) - we also look for volunteers for overall data production team among the sPHENIX grad students. The production manager position itself would be most suited for collaborators at the postdoc or research scientist level. While this task can generally be overseen remotely, we expect that in the final testing and initial startup phase in April/May of this year presence at BNL will be essential.

Please let us know if you or someone in your group would like to take on this critical responsibility! We have an excellent record of volunteering and self-organization in the collaboration, and look forward to collaborators stepping up to take on this and a few select other roles to enable sPHENIX data taking and processing.

Please don't hesitate to contact us and/or Chris with any questions regarding this role.

Best,

Gunther and Dave
