Thanks Brett for circulating.
I’m an optimist, will assume it’s a late April fools joke.
I like the approach you expressed in another thread; if it’s a Team meeting, I won’t be joining.

Subject: discussion of CERN idea to replace Zoom by Microsoft Teams
Date: May 22, 2023 at 7:50:21 AM PDT

Dear All,
CERN IT is considering a change in services that are used for
communication: transition from Zoom to Microsoft Teams. There is also
some discussion around Mattermost and CERNPhone, but I don't know CERN
IT intentions there.
I know that other experiments already expressed their unhappiness with
the proposed change.
We have 2 ways to give CERN IT our feedback:
1) I should report as a representative of the Collaboration on what
our needs and use cases are, the most important features of the
existing services which are used by us, if some use cases are not
covered by the existing services.
2) In September CERN IT will organise a user satisfaction survey
focusing at better understanding the users satisfaction regarding the
existing IT services (Mattermost, Zoom, CERNPhone).
There is a dedicated point on tomorrow's General Zoom agenda where I
would like to gather some feedback from you.
My personal attitude is that I don't know about Mattermost and
CERNPhone, and I am very satisfied with Zoom, while I am unsatisfied
with MS Teams.
Zoom has clients for Windows, Linux, iOS (also others, but these 3 are
used by me), performs very well with any number of participants,
connections are stable (everybody hears/sees everybody else), allows
for desktop/window sharing, drawing on this share to point specific
things, provides chat, list of participants, allows for reactions,
allows for fine control of participant permissions, allows for
customisation of speaker/participants/share view.
MS Teams doesn't have proper clients for all systems I work with. At
the times I was forced to use it, the connections were not stable or
the performance was poor (stutter).
Please speak up tomorrow or respond to this e-mail if you have more to
say to CERN IT than above or more importantly if you don't agree with
something that I wrote. Maybe there is some important feature of Teams
that I am not aware of?
Best regards,
Antoni
