Dear All,

Please find below a short summary and some thoughts (I will stop to pollute your e-mails, people who are interested, please contact me directly, for SDCC : please feel free to share within the groups, for NPPS : up to Torre)

This is DOE ASCR base funding
Each Lab was asked to submit a list of topics, Lab Research Computing Director should be a Lead PI (for BNL Kerstin KvD)
For each topic DOE made recommendation

For topic ’testbed’ (#1) in the LoI, DOE recommendation : submit

Preliminary budget (for this topic) : $2M/year x 5 years

BNL proposal will have more topics, than this one, but funding will be allocated per topic (not per proposal)

Funding for a particular topic may be increased ($2M is current Kerstin’s decision)

BNL : near proximity to facilities and data
BNL : broad range of applications
BNL : use-cases (NP - EIC, NSLS3)
It is about advanced technologies evaluation (HW at very early stage)
