Hi Ross,
Thanks for the great suggestions. I've made your recommended changes along with a few others that I think help the flow after reorganizing a few sentences. I'm attaching a new draft of the abstract.

Dear Ben,
Thanks for circulating this. I suggest a few minor wording changes
2: rather than say it is essential -- which it is -- I'd say it's the main tracking detector.
11: using a set of diffuse lasers incident on the ==> using a set of diffused lasers which illuminate the
13:
emit photoelectrons when struck by the diffuse laser, which can then be used to ==> emit photoelectrons when struck by the diffuse laser. The resulting pattern can be reconstructed and used to..
Also, the content looks good, and reads well, except where it catches my eye oddly to have more design details following the 'this poster will show' section. Maybe you could introduce the CM first? eg:
"...These distortions must be accurately characterized over time such that they can be corrected as they evolve. Several calibration systems are used for this, including a set of diffuse lasers incident on the TPC's Central Membrane..."
Which would let you close with "this paper will discuss the design, algorithm, and performance of ..." etc.
