- Subject: [Sphenix-emcal-l] Beam test 2018
- Date: Wed, 26 Jul 2017 14:30:07 -0400
We discussed in the EMCAL meeting yesterday the possibility of delaying the beam test a few weeks in 2018 in order to take advantage of extra time to do more quality assurance and testing on the prototypes before the next beam test, and possibly exercise for the first time some of the methods we'll use in mass production.
Right, now, we are on the FTBF schedule for Feb 21-Mar 28, 2018.
Eric looked at the schedule, and without getting too close to the summer shutdown, it would be possible to schedule the beam test for March 20-April 24 or so.
That would avoid Quark Matter (May 13-19) (good), but it gets it out of winter break (bad). It also avoids the EDIT School entirely, so we'd have 24 hours available for the whole period (I think).
There are too many things going on to decide on this right now, but we should kick it around and after the review either live with our present schedule or change it once. We haven't checked with Mandy directly, but it appears possible from the schedule on the web, and it seems the budget isn't going to shut down the test any earlier.
