Ladies & gen….’s,
I have a number of pages of very inexpensive plastic diffuser films with different densities which I used for similar purposes (someone is welcomed to cut 1/4 from each page or contact OptiGrafix TM). Unfortunately - to little success - look through diffuser on LED with your bare eiys - if you see bright spot then you reduced the contrast but  not the peak to background. To get  better you need to add refractive diffuser which is expensive or really to cut very badly into light (this is what TEDLA “diffuser" which I already gave to Sean/Craig is doing).

Hi,

I was thinking of two different grits (one of each) so that we can see which one works better for us.  I would think to pick two that are quite different than each other.  Do others agree?

Best,
Anne

Hi Anne,

Two of which, conflicting ideas here.  Two of the same grit or two of each of the 4 grits?

Hi Eric and Craig,

I think that seems reasonable.  Eric could you order two?

Best,
Anne

Hi Eric,
From what I can see, this diffuser looks fine, but it's hard to say a priori how uniform the light output would be given the LED light source you would be using. Since they're not expensive, you might want to order several with different grit polishes and see how they look. They do seem to give reasonable overall transmission (~ 80%), so you could even try using two of them in tandem if necessary. The main thing will be to see how uniform the light distribution from the diffuser looks with the camera.

Cheers,
Craig

This is one of the first sights that come up on a Google search of optical diffusers
