Dear All,
This is just a reminder that the IEEE NSS/MIC/RTSD Conference is still scheduled to take place in Boston, MA from Oct 31st- Nov 7th of this year (see the notice below). Obviously with the current world wide COVID-19 situation, there is still some uncertainty as to how this will play out, but the hope and intention is that the conference will be held as originally scheduled.
There is currently a great deal of very interesting work going on developing detectors and instrumentation for both sPHENIX and EIC and this conference would provide an excellent opportunity to present our work to a broad international audience where it will have a significant impact and highlight the work being done on sPHENIX and EIC, as well as other projects we may be working on. The IEEE NSS/MIC/RTSD is the largest conference on detector and instrumentation development for nuclear science and medical imaging in the world that is held each year in various cities around the globe. This year, it is in Boston, which is relatively easy for people in the US to reach. The closing date for abstract submission is May 9th, which is about one month away, so please consider submitting an abstract. We're all hoping this crisis will be over by the fall and that we can start getting together again as a community, and I hope we will all see each other again in person (and not just online) in Boston.

Best regards,
Craig

2020 IEEE Nuclear Science Symposium and Medical Imaging Conference 27th International Symposium on Room Temperature Semiconductor X-Ray & Gamma-Ray Detectors   Westin Boston Waterfront Hotel and the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center Boston, MA, USA   31 October – 7 November 2020   https://nssmic.ieee.org/2020/ nssmic2020 AT ieee.org     Conference Updates

We would like to bring you up to date on how the preparations for the 2020 IEEE NSS MIC conference are going. We have now set the locations for the NSS and MIC dinner and RTSD will also have its traditional lunch. The preparations are in full swing and we hope that the committee's work will pay off later with a successful conference.

As of now, we are not anticipating changing our review schedule, but recognize the impact that the current crisis is having on our community. At the moment, we are considering the impact on the conference on a day-to-day basis. In a normal year, most people do not quite have their experimental results at submission time, so their submissions reflect that. During the conference such results are presented. In a few cases, when results were not obtained, the submissions are withdrawn. Within the organizing committee we do not have enough data to determine whether this is going to happen on a larger scale. We will take measures if and when deemed necessary. There is also always an option of accepting a late submission when enough notice is given and if there is a compelling argument.

Again, we would like to remind you that we have our abstract submission deadline, May 9, in about four weeks, and therefore ask you to submit your submissions promptly, even at this difficult time.

Please do not hesitate to pass on this message to your colleagues.

On behalf of the entire organizing committee, I would like to sincerely welcome you to the 2020 IEEE NSS/MIC and RTSD in Boston.

Lorenzo Fabris

General Chair
