Hello All,

I will be designing the new sPhenix prototype stand in the next few weeks and would like some more input on the degrees of freedom from the group.

Here’s what I know.

1.       We need the ability to adjust the prototype assembly +/- 50mm vertically to be in line with Fermilab’s beam which is about 65” from the floor.

2.       We need to slide the EMCAL and the INNER HCAL independently  along the beam-line in order to access the electronics.

3.       EMCAL will be installed in a modified 80/20 frame that has its own degrees of freedom for independent tests.

Here’s what I’m not sure of.

4.       Do we want to have the ability to rotate the entire prototype around the sPHENIX beam-line by +/- 10degrees?

5.       Do we want the tiles stacked horizontally for cosmic ray tests?

Thanks,

Rich
