Dear HCAL’ers:

 

After discussion with the L3 managers we have decided we will *not* hold an HCAL meeting this week. After the excellent discussions we have had at the last two HCAL meetings regarding the resumption of operations at GSU and BNL, it seems premature to continue these conversations in the absence of concrete information about the conditions under which this will occur. Conversations at higher levels are ongoing, and we are hopeful that concrete guidance will be coming in the next few weeks.

 

We will plan to continue with the next HCAL meeting on May 12^th, but we may hold one earlier if conditions warrant.

 

I can report that the ISU/BNL contract is now in place, and discussions with shops and ISU purchasing are ongoing. Many of the shops that bid originally are hungry for the work and I am hopeful we can get orders placed soon. It would be nice if when we resume factory operations we have a definite delivery date for the electronics boxes and skins.

 

Finally, I would just like to point out that there are many HCAL-related activities that people can pursue at this time. For example, there will be a Jet Structure ToG meeting this afternoon at 3PM BNL time:

This is an excellent forum for the intersection between hardware and analysis performance.  In addition, the Calibration Task Force meets on opposite weeks as the HCAL meeting, and I am certain that Megan can point out additional tasks that we can start thinking about to be better prepared for the future.
