Generic update:

Standard sPHENIX simulation production refreshed by Chris:

·       Newest batch is ready with dates 2016-07-06, including single particle sample in the new reference designed as defined in the re-scoping supersize.

·       Location: /gpfs/mnt/gpfs02/sphenix/sim/sim01/production/

Other updates:

Action Item[Mike]: tracking update to handle variable layer of silicon inner tracker

Tracking software update with focus on TPC - Mike McCumber

Current build TPC code status:

·       Able to produce track with good efficiency and purity.

·       Degraded momentum resolution, suspect originate from missing outlier rejection and cluster error treatment

·       Treatment of vertex resolution

Mike now working on two main parts

·       Rework event generator to properly simulate TPC+MAPS pile up effect

·       Cluster error handling

Jin: Are we still using the different tracking code bases for TPC and silicon tracking? Do we plan to keep maintaining two forks of tracking algorithms?

Mike: Yes. And it will be so for a while.

Simulation updates in Test beam Workfest

SPACAL updates - Jin Huang

John H.: Shall we consider rotate radial gap away from pointing to the vertex. Need to quantify acceptable gap effect in sPHENIX

Jin: Electron gets bended away from radial direction before indenting into EMCal. The gap projectivity effect can be studied with an angle scan of photons into the EMCal

Slide 10: energy resolution

Jin: Beam momentum spread is included in \Delta E for both simulation and data.

Anne: what was the cluster size used in simulation?

Jin: summing 64 towers in simulation for the current plots. Since simulation do not have tower-to-tower calibration variation.

HCal updates - Xiaochun He

Slide 10: calibration constant from COSMIC

Jin: please note Birk correction will change energy scales

Page 16: resolution plot

Jin: this resolution is better than shown from Abhisek

Xiaochun, Abhisek: difference may from G4Hit sum and digitized sum.

Slide 17: linearity plot

Craig: if non-linearity comes from leakage, why not in a logarithmic shape?

Xiaochun: may have major contribution from missing energy in shower

Jin: Good to check leakage directly

Jin: it will be good to try data analysis technique like bootstrap on the simulation data to reveal possible biases.
