Friends,
As we mentioned in several meetings, we are planning to organize an sPHENIX collaboration meeting/workfest in Asia in March 2019. The meeting will of course be open to all sPHENIX collaborators, but we hope in particular to gather sPHENIX members
from the many Asian sPHENIX institutions in China, India, Japan, Korea and now Taiwan. The meeting will be hosted by Prof. Chia-Ming Kuo's group at National Central University in Zhongli, Taiwan. Zhongli is located about 50km southwest of Taipei and is a 25min
taxi ride from Taoyuan International, Taiwan's largest airport. Taoyuan can be reached by short direct flights for most Asian collaborators. Travel for US or European collaborators is a bit more involved, but we will try to make the trip worthwhile, and once
in Taiwan, local expenses should be very affordable.
The meeting will be organized over three days, and cover three main areas:
* Collaboration and project news, sub-detector status and plans
* Plans of the Asian institutions and opportunities for collaboration
* Workfests on electron/photon reconstruction and related physics topics and on silicon tracker construction (in particular INTT) and related software and physics topics
To fix the date and get a head count of participants, a doodle poll can be found here:
We hope to see many of you at this meeting!
Best,
Gunther, Dave and Chia-Ming Kuo
