Postdoctoral Research Associate Position in Experimental High-Energy Nuclear Physics

The Experimental High Energy Nuclear Physics group at the Department of Physics and Astronomy, Vanderbilt University, is inviting applications for the position of Postdoctoral Research Associate beginning Oct 1st, 2021. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in high energy nuclear or particle physics and have a strong background in data analysis. The Vanderbilt group is a member of the PHENIX, and sPHENIX collaborations at RHIC (Brookhaven National Laboratory), the CMS collaboration at the LHC (CERN), and the theory/experiment JETSCAPE collaboration. The group has made major contributions in the study of the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) with detailed investigations of collective phenomena, jet-medium interactions and jet substructure. The group’s program is presently expanding to include heavy flavor and quarkonia as probes of QGP. Expertise in one of the areas of interest for the group is highly desirable. The successful applicant will be expected to analyze data from PHENIX and/or CMS, with a possibility of future analysis of sPHENIX data.

Applications include a CV, a brief description of research experience and interests, list of publications, and three recommendation letters, and should be sent electronically to Prof. Julia Velkovska: julia.velkovska AT vanderbilt.edu.

For full consideration, applications should be completed by August 25th,2021. Additional applications will be accepted and reviewed until the position is filled. The position is for 1 year, renewable for up to three years. Vanderbilt University is an Equal Opportunity Employer and encourages underrepresented minority candidates to apply.
