Subject: [Sphenix-l] The sPHENIX Magnet test was a success - in case you haven't heard

     Dear sPHENIX Colleagues,
The sPHENIX Magnet test was a success this week thanks
to the great efforts of CAD, and important contributions
from the sPHENIX Project team and the BNL Magnet Division.
We ramped the SC-Magnet to full field, held it at that field for
over 24 hours, and re-ramped to full field at a 50% higher rate.
I have attached photos of the fast ramp test today and the hall probe
readout inside the solenoid. By the way, the hall probe was not
calibrated and
was positioned away from the full-field point, so reads 10% less
     than 1.4 Telsa.

The ramping of the magnet to full field with sPHENIX in
data-taking position
has been an important sPHENIX milestone for years. Many contributed
but special thanks should go to Kin, John, Roberto, Paul O., Carl,
Pablo,
the whole CAD cryo group and SMD team that worked on our magnet.

On to the magnet mapping, which begins next week. Congratulations
     to all.

     Ed
