Hi all,_______________________________________________One of my students Evan Kuenzi is planning to submit a DNP CEU abstract. The title and abstract is below. The abstracts are due Wednesday, August 2. Any and all comments are welcome. Thanks,NathanStudy of SiPM Current Draw in the sPHENIX 2023 Au+Au runEvan Kuenzi, for the sPHENIX CollaborationRelativistic heavy ion collisions collide ions such as gold and lead at speeds near the speed of light. The sPHENIX detector measures the resulting particles of heavy ion collisions. It does this using calorimeters which are designed to measure the energy of particles going through them. When a particle goes through a calorimeter, it gives off light which we measure using SiPMs. Silicon Photomultipliers or SiPMs read the light given off by the particles and produce a current proportional to the amount of light given off. SiPMs are radiation sensitive and can easily be damaged, especially by slow neutrons. In this poster I show the current analysis of the SiPMs in the sPHENIX 2023 Au+Au run.
