Hi Tanner,

Great work! I think it will be good to put a footnote or notice in your plot/slides stating the JES and JER extracted with the iterative method was done with the flow component turned off, just to distinguish it from future plots which will include flow.

Best regards,
Ejiro

Hi everyone,

Here is a detailed update on the jet background subtraction and background fluctuation analysis for the JS-TG jet performance paper. I've also added this pdf to yesterdays jet TG meeting indico page which can be found here: https://indico.bnl.gov/event/21212/contributions/83456/attachments/51038/87296/tmengel_long_update.pdf. There are still some things on the to-do list for this analysis, but I believe the bulk of it is complete. Here is the TL;DR of the pdf:

- The results we've seen from comparing the three different background subtraction methods do not indicate there is a clear method which should be taken as the standard for sPHENIX jet measurements. Rather, a given jet observable should use a background subtraction method tailored to that observable.
- Given the target kinematic range of the sPHENIX jet program, we should prioritize combinatorial jet suppression,  and jet reconstruction performance in the low jet momentum regime.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or suggestions on this analysis!
Best,
Tanner Mengel

Hi all,

We’ll have a Physics Coordination Meeting this Friday at 1pm ET:

https://indico.bnl.gov/event/21227/

zoom: https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://bnl.zoomgov.com/j/1617155902?pwd=UGYxazlxeVJpZzd5dmJDK1Q5Qk5xQT09__;!!P4SdNyxKAPE!FuTTKZkaWbA_1EUPCMwsDDIhDc3Y4lJS9jj1pfBKQz_w9FLBMkh4UQvYi6H_u1hXJmxINDzlYYw1aC5tI7dnvHsB0ZY$

On the agenda we have reports on the ongoing PPGs from the Bulk & Jet Structure TG conveners.

Best,
Anne & Dennis
