    Dear sPHENIX collaborators,
    
    Abhay Deshpande will start as BNL NPP Associate Lab Director in
    July.  If you'd like to know a bit more about Abhay, you might be
    interested in the event detailed below.  Today, from 2:30-3:30pm ET,
    NPP will be hosting a "candid conversation" with him.  If you're on
    site, you could drop by the Large Seminar Room in Bldg. 510.  Ask
    some questions and enjoy some cookies and coffee.  Then head out to
    1008 for the 3:30pm ET shift change meeting!

Join us in a candid conversation with Abhay Deshpande, director of the Electron-Ion Collider (EIC) and founding director of the Center for Frontiers in Nuclear Science (CFNS) at Stony Brook University. Abhay is a Distinguished Professor in the department of Physics and Astronomy at Stony Brook University. He has been involved and led nuclear/particle physics experiments at BNL as well as at CERN in Switzerland, DESY in Germany, Jefferson Lab in Virginia, and PSI in Switzerland. He was one of the earliest proponents of the EIC since the late 1990s and has been a leader in developing EIC science, making the case for it, and initiating and organizing the users community and detector collaborations around the project.
