    Hi folks,
    
    this just came in - I don't think this changes anything for us since
    we have been going through ssh tunnels or vpn to get to our sdcc
    mails anyway. The only new part is the 16 character password. If you
    hear from sdcc to change your mail password (which is different from
    your sdcc password), please do so

    P.S. Why a separate password: The reason for having a separate email
    password is that this way sdcc can allow you to still read your
    mails for a while even if your sdcc account is blocked (training or
    guest id expired)

Effective September 26, the SMTP port will be blocked from use outside of the campus. Users will need to either connect through VPN or will need a separate SSH tunnel to send mail through the RHIC SMTP port. The new requirements also mandate that any new or updated email password must be at least 16 characters long. Users whose email passwords don&#039;t currently comply with existing requirements will be contacted to change their passwords, which will need to meet this new 16-character mandate.
