Dear Cameron, Tony, Marzia, and Jin,

Fudan Group is interested in quarkonia polarization and RAA physics in p+p and Au+Au. The following are our plans.

Topic for 2024: J/psi, psi(2s), and Y(1s) polarization in p+p

Short-term motivations: (1) J/psi polarization in pp. (2) search J/psi, psi, Y(1s) signals in pp collisions, evaluate the statistics for the associated RAA measurement.
Long-term motivations:(1) J/psi, psi(2s), and Y(1s) polarization measurement in Au+Au. (2) J/psi and Upsilon RAA measurements
Timescale and feasibility: From now on to 2027 for all colleagues listed. Open to potential 6-12 month extension due to the data QA and detector calibration.
Subsystem: (1) Full tracking calibration and QA to be done. (2) Full calorimeter calibration and QA to be done.
(3) Full sEPD calibration and QA to be done. (4) Matching between calorimeter and tracking to be done.
Workforce and expertise:
Weihu Ma(Fudan U., staff):sPHENIX EMCal blocks production and eID simulations
Jingyu Zhang(Fudan U. PhD student): sPHENIX EMCal cosmic simulations, offline QA,plan to calibrate EMCal with conversion electrons
Xudong Yu(Peking U. PhD student): actively involved in the 2024tracking QA and heavy flavor simulation, analysis experience in physics at BESll
Jinhui Chen (Fudan U., staff scientist): polarization measurements at STAR
Long Ma (Fudan U., staff): D0 correlation measurement at STAR
Wanbing He (Fudan U., staff): EPD reconstruction and PID at STAR

PS: the current topic group meetings are too late to participate for Asia members. Is it possible to make adjustments after soliciting everyone's opinions? I suggest moving the start time to 3 hours earlier so that we can attend the meeting before midnight.

Best,
Weihu

Subject: [[Sphenix-upsilons-l] ] Next joint quarkonia/open heavy flavour meeting

Dear open heavy flavor and quarkonia enthusiasts,

Run 24 has ended. Congratulations to everyone who has worked so hard to make this a success. We have collected a large data set, with triggered and streamed samples on disk, and now is the time to start setting up our analyses.

As was mentioned in the last PCM, there are two proposed abstracts for Quark Matter which are covered under our topical group:

(1) Lambda_c / D0 ratio in pp

(2) D_s / D+ ratio in pp

These are not the only PPGs that can be formed, but these will be topics that we will focus on for QM next year.

We will have a topical group meeting this Wednesday, October 23rd at 1:30pm ET, and a second meeting next week. We are soliciting presentations from all institutions or individuals on physics topics that they are interested in, and contributions that they can make to sPHENIX. We would encourage groups to combine multiple topics into a single presentation. We would ask you prepare at most 2 slides per topic to outline the

(1) Topic

(2) Timescale and feasibility

(3) Workforce and expertise (staff, students and postdocs)

If you would like to present, please let us know and we can add you to either agenda. If the time of the meeting is not suitable, you can also upload slides indicating interest or email us which will allow us to write a complete list to send to Dennis, Anne and Joe.

and the indico agenda can be found at https://indico.bnl.gov/event/25190/

Talk to you all soon,

Cameron, Tony, Marzia and Jin
