sPHENIX is a new detector at RHIC.

Hi folks,

sdcc has changed their policy regarding the adding of the sphenix group 
id to existing sdcc accounts.  They are now ok with that.
Just a reminder the sphenix group id is what gives you access to sPHENIX 
resources (cpu + disk) and also access to our web pages and invenio and 
3GB of space on $HOME.

Just be aware that sphenix accounts use a different shell (bash). 
sPHENIX does also have csh versions of the setup script (mainly because 
I am still using a grandfathered in PHENIX account), so running the 
sPHENIX  environment from a PHENIX account does work. This is not 
guaranteed for other sdcc accounts (STAR, ATLAS,...) and you would be on 
your own to figure this out (I don't mind implementing - reasonable - 
changes in our csh scripts but I won't give you a hand to get a non 
sPHENIX account to work).

I assume this is also true for the reverse (adding other group id's to 
an sPHENIX account) but there is no support for bash in e.g. PHENIX 
(again - this would be your problem).

So - in the future - if someone needs access to sPHENIX resources and 
has an existing sdcc account and wants to keep using it, file a ticket 
to have the group id added instead of applying for a new account. 
Otherwise applying for an sphenix account is always an option.
