Hi, In today's meeting, --- we have discussed about the inspection/acceptance test for the sPHENIX Magnet. The hypot/impulse tests and the pressure tests have been completed successfully. We're checking with Ray Ceruti to see whether the leak check has been done. Piyush Johsi/Bob Lambiase would like to use the ramp test to measure the inductance in DC (rather than with AC, as we have seen that the inductance measured at AC (highest ~0.074 H) seems to be >20 times lower than what it should be ( 2.19 H by Ansaldo ... also calculations from Wuzheng has 2.15 H with our present configuration without any return yoke). --- Paul Giannotti has shown us his understanding of the quench protection system, dump resistor and the connections. He's made us aware of the difficulty in understanding the complete connections (at the pin to pin level). It's suggested that at some level, as long as the connectors connect (from the junction box to the valve box etc.) and work, we might be OK. Paul has also promised to put the scanned files (PDF) to the \\bnl\c-adnas\babar as soon as possible. --- Roberto reminds us about the steps to go to the PCSS (Pressure & Cryogenic Safety Subcommittee). We'll wait until the next meeting to ask for a date in probably mid-May for the review. ( I talked with Ed and asking 2-3 weeks in advance seems OK/necessary. ) Roberto will need help from people like M. Anerella. --- we've discussed quite a bit about our next main step: the low current (100 A) test for the sPHENIX Magnet. The actions are mainly (i) J. Muratore will give us a draft top-level plan for all the steps needed; (ii) P. Kovach will make a plan to test for the Valve Box (which will be used for the low current test); (iii) Paul Giannotti will check/investigate the electrical and other connections, and Roberto will be responsible for the cryogenic connections/setup. We shall look at the plan from J. Muratore and discuss ...... Kin |
