Hi,

Thanks for Roberto’s messages and the Cryo group working even on Sunday.  We started warming up the Cryo system in

912 Friday night.  And you can see from the message below that they’ll cut the cryo lines and prepare for the welding today

(Sunday, Dec. 20, 2015).  Hopefully, we’ll be able to do the welding on Monday, and then leak-check and then welding again.

[ I’ve heard that we’ll likely have less competition for welder(s) this coming week due to a delay in the CeC 704 MHz cavity

delivery. ]

I guess Mike Gaffney will be able to do his (whatever) checking on these “warm” piping after that ?! ...

We broke insulating vacuum with Nitrogen.

Will be cutting cryo lines and prepping field weld fitup this afternoon.

Hi Roberto,

Is the warm-up in 912 OK ??    You told me that you’d go to check today and so I ask …

It seems that the 22 week RHIC run would become 20 week from the emails below.  I wonder whether you’ve heard …

Dear STAR Collaborators:

We have just received the guidance from DOE (to BNL) that there will be
20 cryo-week of RHIC run instead of the originally planned 22 weeks.

Our shift sign-up was designed for 22 weeks. For those who have already
signed up for the last two weeks, please try to un-sign and help to fill other
open slots. By now we have 8 open slots and need to un-sign 24.

For those who are not able to re-sign to other spots, we will credit your dues,
but may ask for help if slots open due to unexpected events (visa etc.).

I am looking forward to a successful run 16 and exciting physics from it.

Happy Holidays!

Subject: Guidance for FY16 budget and RHIC run 16

Dear All:

We received guidance today from ONP on the FY2016 RHIC operations budget. While this is not yet official, we expect our budget allocation to come in $2.6M below the presidential budget request with an expectation of a 20 cryo-week RHIC run. I wanted you to have this information asap so that you can plan on optimizing the physics program for the 20 weeks within the context of the PAC guidance.
