Hi,
1. Because of the snow, we may have been slowed down by 1 day or so. The Cryo group is still trying to tighten all the pipes/valves during their pressure test/leak check. They plan to do the official pressure test/leak check with Mike Gaffney (with the help of the vacuum group --- they had set up the leak detector already in 912 for us).
1.1 After that, Sonny and Co. can do the hypot/impulse tests as in the pre-test Inspection traveler.
2. I attach 2 sets of emails sent to me by Roberto last week and today. Apparently, the PLC put out 250 mA instead of 20 mA which seemed to have burnt the circuit/fuse of the positioner --- which is used to close/open the valve to mix the hot and cold gas. Roberto told me that they might be able to live without knowing whether the valve is closed or half closed but they have to fix the PLC so that it’ll not continue to damage the circuit ….
3. Pat Talty hasn’t come to help us yet but Roberto hopes that Pat can help us enough this week so that we may finish the control system for cool-down by Friday so that we may start cooling down !!!

Kin, The I/P are arriving today, if they get delivered. Pressure test we will try to do the gross leak check this afternoon and the real one tomorrow. The PLC card was putting out 250 mA, instead of 20 mA. That end still to resolve.

I think we damaged this card. (see pictures). Are these PC cards available for purchase? They are surface mount PC cards. No positioners or valves appear to be working. Some areas on the cards appear scorched. Thanks Tom Tallerico

Kin, When we tried cycling the valves from the PLC they would not work. We check them out earlier with independent control signal, 4-20 mA generator, and the valves cycled. Turns out they burned out the input circuit/or fuse on the input circuit Siemens positioners. The control signal they sent from rack was way above the 20 mA (70 mA), some wiring issue between PLC analog card and power supply.
So they ordered I/P [current to pressure] transmitters to replace the positioners. At least we can control the valves, but will not know exactly how much they are actually open.
If they come in on Monday we need to replace the Siemens positioners.
Always something.
Also they will shutdown instrument air Friday afternoon. I ask to get the air back for Tuesday so I can restart cryoplant
