sPHENIX discussion of the superconducting solenoid

Hi,

 

It’s more or less 30 K now and the temperature drop continues this way to 4.5 K.  It’ll probably reach 4.5 K tomorrow morning !

( See JPG file attached. ) I’m not sure the last 10 K or several K will need more time or less time ….

 

The yellow scaffolding has been removed today (as I noticed some minutes ago).

 

We’re still waiting for :

 

(1)   Dave to put the 5 G barrier;

(2)   Achim and his technician to take his cart of equipments to the designated location (away from the Magnet);

(3)   “Magnet Review” scheduled to be 8 am (Friday).

 

Joe Muratore and Sonny Dimaiuta seem motivated and they may start doing the electrical test ( hipot etc.) on Friday already.

( Searching a bit this morning, we finally located the official traveler on Joe’s desk --- which he wrote it many months ago anyway. )
