1. Ray Ceruti reported
that they've finished cutting the He tubing and disconnecting
the leads. Dave Phillips has arranged/is trying to arrange the
riggers
on Monday (probably at 8:30 am) and Ray will be there to watch. The electricians are also working on take out the cable trays and other electrical stuff this week. 2. I have reminded Piyush and Paul Giannotti to send the strain gauge specification to Zeynep. I understand that Paul has gone to talk with Zeynep after the meeting to let her know what are really needed. Piyush has promised again to give the labview programs (that he's used for the quench detection etc. during the low-field test) to Zeynep, once he can power on the PC in 902. 3. Carl Schultheiss has given us a talk which he showed his simulation of the power supply with various of ground faults at a few different locations. Apparently, connecting the middle of the dump resistor to ground without resistance is a bad option as it'd draw huge current (~1750 A) and produces different/asymmetric currents across inner and outer coils. The conclusion is that we should just do what SLAC has done, ie. connecting the middle of the dump resistor with an 100 ohm to ground. See his talk : https://collab.external.bnl.gov/sites/sPHENIX-Magnet/Past%20Presentations/2016-5-4%20sPHENIX%20Magnet%20Ground%20Fault%20Studies.pptx 4. We've discussed what reviews to have. The conclusion is that we'll need to go through the ASSRC/ESRC (internal C-AD) again. But before that, we'll discuss with Joe Tuozzolo first so that he'd not be surprised in the ASSRC/ESRC review. In addition, Jim/Dave are also organizing some mechanical engineering for the return yoke design with John Hock. After the meeting, I went to find Ed Lessard and he said that as long as we're using the pipelines under the maximum pressure that the last PCSS review has approved for, we don't need to have another PCSS review (for our High-Field Test). 5. Jim Mills et. al. has requested that we wrote a note about the low-field test. Piyush, Joe Muratore and I will try to come up with such a note ...... |
