Hi, In Wed.'s meeting (Dec. 21, 2016), a few of us felt that the space between the steel walls seem too "narrow" when we look at the Flux Return base/wall, eg. : https://collab.external.bnl.gov/sites/sPHENIX-Magnet/Pictures/High%20Field%20Test/Return%20Yoke%20Construction/2016-12-19.jpg This morning, I went to 912 to measure a few lengths (with a self-retracting "measuring tape") . In the cross-sectional view as shown in the above picture, the outer length of solenoid/cryostat is ~ 354 cm ; the internal length between the two steel walls is roughly ~405 cm ; and the horizontal length of wedge/bracket is like 76 cm each . I guess, since the cylindrical cryostat/solenoid "sits" in the middle of wedges, it should be OK. This was just to make sure and test/measure with my own hand ... Yours scientifically, Kin |
