sPHENIX discussion of the superconducting solenoid

Hi,

 

Thanks to Paul Orfin.   You can see from the two photos attached which

were taken on Apr. 8 and Apr. 13 respectively.   KIMG0243.JPG seems

to be very similar to the one that John gave me in Apr. 2015:

but KIMG0243.JPG  has the signs at the top.

 

So, the labels were not labelled by Piyush or Sonny.  This further convinces us that A is +ve.

 

I think this concludes our detective actions.   Hahaha …

Hi,

Who's labelled the "+" and "-" on the Leads at the top of the power supply ?   Dave Phillips asked me.  Roberto told me that he didn't remember seeing these
+/- labels when the Valvebox first arrived.

These +/- signs together with the old marker A and B as you may see from John Haggerty's picture (and others)

also suggested A is +ve (consistent with the document) below.   But we had an old letter from Martin Berndt who seemed to say the opposite.

Is it Sonny and Piyush who made the +ve or -ve label or ?? 

Can somebody please let us know ??  Very curious ...

So, unless somebody comes up  with a different idea (with some genius rationale), I guess we just stick with this.
