Hi,

(1) BNL barcode avoided again:  J. Haggerty passed my name to Donna King and she called me to want to put barcodes on the Magnet.  In our conversation,
she might seem to want to put more than one barcode.    I brough her colleague Hakeem Raheem to Bldg. 912 and I explained to Hakeem the Magnet Coil would be
hidden by the Return Steel or the Expt. Detector and even showed him powerpoint in my office before we walked to Bldg. 912.

After we got there, we saw that the barcode no. was actually written on the face of the non-lead-end of the Magnet Coil.  I invited Hakeem to put the barcode on the
Valvebox (D. Phillips' idea).   Anyway, at the end, Hakeem decided not to the barcode anywhere and hold on to the barcode until the Magnet moved to 1008 or so :-)

(2) Yesterday, C-AD vacuum group (S. Gill et. al.) helped Ray Ceruti do leak check on the Magnet/Extension connection and it seems to have been verified quickly.
Today, R. Ceruti/S. Dimaiuta's colleagues from SMD are working on the electrical connection.

Ray told me that they "
just backed off the radial rods and axial restraints this morning." --- I guess it's changed from the transport mode to the normal data-taking/static mode.

(3) I checked with J. Jamilkowski, J. Morris and P. Rosas.   They're working together to see whether they can use the present not-finalized software to see whether they ramp
the power supply.

(4) Communicating and working with Frank Toldo, I understand quite a bit more about the strain gauge connections which were previously taken care by P. Giannotti.  Frank
has buzzed out all the signals --- there are color-codes and letter codes A,B,C ... AA, ....

F. Toldo has just told me that he connected 6 connectors but forgot the last one C7.  He's going back to hopefully find the C7 and connect tomorrow.  (  C7 is sparsely used
and I remember that I found this missing piece a month ago while checking/chatting with T. Tallerico and P. Giannotti in 1008).

(5) Monday afternoon (July 24), I saw Carl Schultheiss, R. Zapasek et. al. were happily receiving and inspecting the assembled front-end boards, used for the High-Field
Test as well as future 1008 operation.   Hopefully, they'll find those front-end boards working as they have specified ........

(6) After Carl Schultheiss, D. Phillips has found out the voltage tap cables ($628) arrived as early as July 12 in B922 by the roll-up door.
(7) The critical path now is for SMD people to finish all the mechanical/electrical connections at the Magnet/Extension junction.

Then, we can put the end-wall steels and roof-steel above the Extension and then we can put the concrete platform supported by concrete block. Though all the holes on the roof steel
have been transferred, many of them are still not drilled/tapped. We try to get the PHENIX tech. to come back to help us again for this last batch.

    D. Phillips is working on
the platform and got the purchase requisition (336244 ... worth
      ~$3325.47) "pinned" yesterday.
Let's see whether D. Phillips will be waiting for others to finish to install the platform   OR
everybody is waiting for Dave to install the platform (so that they can start working on the Valvebox/Extension connections).

It may be a "close competition" :-)

Kin
