Hi,

1.

This morning, I met with T. Tallerico and R. Meier discussing about the connections at Bldg. 912 next to the sPHENIX Magnet.  Some minutes later, Frank Toldo, Ray Ceruti & D. Milidantri

and J. Hock, not to mention the technicians who are drilling the holes, are all there.

Richard Meier has tied up the cables in the junction box/doghouse at the Magnet/Extension end.  Ray examined and told us that he’s OK with what he’s seen.  He’s going to install additional insulation

inside the junction box and will wrap the heat shield around the junction box (etc.)   He told me that he’s waiting for a part which should arrive this afternoon.  He expects to finish all

the works by the end of this week.

This morning,  I took two photos to let us see inside the junction box :

If you see a hand, it’s Ray’s J   I understand that he’ll put more of those “silvery” insulation around the lead etc. inside the junction box.

2.

After learning from Richard, I’ve asked Frank to check the continuity between one end of J6 cable and the other end which is connected Richard’s Cryo rack, for all the signals

TS32/TS92 (strain gauge) and TT01/TT02/TT03/TT04/TT05 (temperature sensors for strain gauge).   TS32/TS92 and TT04/TT05 are from J6 cable whereas TT01/TT02/TT03

are from the J3 cable.   Just like in the Low-field test, Richard has gathered these signals and we’ll connect them to the strain-gauge chassis (in C. Schultheiss’ rack), in addition

to the other strain gauge signals from J4 and J5.

3. When Ray is done this week, the next step is to install the end walls and the roof-steel next week.   The pressure is then on J. Hock and his team.

After that, we can put up the concrete blocks for the valvebox platform  and then install the platform with the staircase, which is taken care of by D. Phillips.

Kin
