Hi,

I've just taken a picture for the newest status in the High-Field Test at the testing site :
https://collab.external.bnl.gov/sites/sPHENIX-Magnet/Pictures/High%20Field%20Test/2017-8-25.jpg

Very roughly, maybe ~50% of the necessary concrete are installed but the platform (for the Valvebox) is obviously not
there yet.

I gather/observe that all of the concrete blocks were put up yesterday and before. I couldn't find Fred in his office and so I
walked around and interviewed a rigger near the 912 High Bay area to find some "reasons" to write about for the no-action (for us)
today.  Probably just like any reporter who needs/wants to report/write something :-)

He told me that two riggers didn't come in today and they split into two teams.  His team went to work on an emergency job,
a spill in Bldg. 930 (Linac).    Another team went to transfer furniture etc. from the Light Source to ERL ...

Earlier this week, when Bill Christie asked me for reasons why there is ~a month delay, I told him that there wasn't any particular one
reason (though I did mention the almost 1-week delay due to building the wooden staircase in the Non-Lead end when a safety person didn't
like our staircase).   It's always situation like today  that the necessary teams/persons went to do something else.

Next Monday, Dave Phillips would try to
lift the Magnet Cryostat by 0.125" very carefully, together with the survey group.

Dave stated earlier:

"
We would like to raise the cryostat by .125” and put a shim between the Valvebox Extension and the steel.  Then when the Valvebox
is installed the shim can be removed so there is no contact between the Valvebox Extension and the steel."

J. Hock and Dave tried to avoid any overconstrained situation that might damage the Valvebox.

In the meantime, last time I checked/chatted with Dave, I was told that the staircase left the vendor in Pennsylvania this Wed. (Aug. 23),
on schedule.  So after all, the staircase may not be late (due to the delayed platform installation ... I was hoping that the concrete
installation may be done this week).

Yours,

Kin
