Powerpoint/agenda : https://indico.bnl.gov/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=3668  (including the PDF file of the cable tray hand-drawing that PK Feng has made)

1.      As I reported in the previous email, Paul Giannotti has got the Al cradle pieces from the Central Shop and we delivered to John White in Bldg. 912.
Dave Phillips reported that they’re being assembled and hopefully will finish before Friday morning.  As such, we can try to raise the Magnet on Friday
with the survey group.   If not, we’ll have to do the “raising” next Monday.

2.      Carpenters are making progress slowly and Dave predicted that they may not finish (all the platform and hand-rails) this week.   Hopefully next week.

2.1 As soon the Magnet is raised and the platform/staircase is done, we will install the Valvebox, which hopefully can happen next week.  Mike Anerella
said that Ray and his guys should be ready.  I’m checking with Ray.

3.      PK Feng has made a drawing with the cable tray which Paul Giannotti has got.  Paul, John Haggerty and Ed O’Brien are volunteering Mike Rau and his
group to help make the cable tray.

4.      The next step should be to pull the 40 535 MCM cables.  Paul Sampson’s group  has agreed to handle it.   John/Ed commented that if this got delayed, their
guys could help, too.  I actually talked with Paul Sampson after the meeting and he told me that they’re waiting for the cable tray.

5.      Similarly, F. Toldo and others in PHENIX can also help with terminating the MCM cables (with lugs that D. Phillips have).

6.      I mentioned the “snubber circuit” and P. Rosas was still busy with Tandem.  Ed/John commented that as long as P. Rosas showed a design, the PHENIX technician such as F. Toldo can do the work.

7.      Zeynep Altinbas reported (Sept. 25): “We’re pretty much done with implementing the QDS software. Just a few tweaks left. Next is to test the implementation by itself in the Controls lab. Once we finish testing, it’ll be ready to connect to the rest of the system. We expect to be done soon.”

8.      From Carl Schultheiss, I understand that

n  His full rack is 20% done and they (mainly Fred) are working on connecting/terminating the front-end chassis inside the rack.  They may finish by the end of next week.

n  After this, everything else is just plugging all the chasses.

n  They’ll ship the rack to Bldg. 912 so that PK’s group can install power etc. and then R. Schoenfeld can install the chasses of Zeynep’s and Winston’s.

Dave suggested that we should ship this rack to 912 as soon as possible so that

9.      D. Phillips asked for vacuum leak check again before installing Valvebox (as he’s worried that the allegedly malformed Cryostat might have caused vacuum leak).  As we discussed last week, the conclusion is not to do the leak check now but just do it afterwards.  Even there is real leak, M. Anerella (and others) all think that we can try to pump it out as much as possible for this test and try to repair it later.

10.  I also showed that Winston Pekrul was the first to sign off on the “Readiness Checkoff list”.
