Hi, Winston,

The strain gauge cables have been disconnected as you see below.

Can you dIsable the logging for the strain gauges and linear pots ?
They have been long useless.

I have pulled out the cables and they are both 60 ft long.

The strain gauge cable details are found on Tom Tallerico’s drawings:

Number: 5065E005 Pages 1, 2 and 3.

Hi,

After you disconnect, can you measure how long these cables are ?

You have Paul's diagram, right ?  File or print.

Kin,

I will remove the 2 cables we spoke about and bring them back here for safe keeping. But again, I think it will be a good idea to make new cables due to the fact that one was broken already and that we are not sure if these will be long enough for the permanent installation.

Also Paul told me that his prints are on file.

Hi,

With my headache on, I just remember that John Haggerty has promised that their PHENIX group will pack and safe guard the valve box, doghouses etc. somewhere in 1008.

Kin,

We should be able to perform the work.  I didn’t plan to safeguard your parts for several years.

Cheers,

Mike

Hi,

On the other hand, when I asked Mike Anerella whether we should find some C-AD magnet experts to help (doing those superconducting joints and wrapping them up like what Ray did etc.), he said that they (in Magnet Div.)  will take care of this in the future.   You may confirm with him in the meeting.

Hi, Ray,

Thanks.   Brian said that he’d take video etc. and he should be able to be responsible for keeping all the various parts ….

  • will be some time in the future

When will you be more free to do this work ??  End of Nov. , Dec.  or later ??

Hi Kin,

I’m sure our techs can handle the lift off of the valve box both upper and lower parts involved and will work with the riggers directly.  The actual removal I hope will be some time in the future as we are all very busy now and there will be a commitment of effort before the actual removal day.  Who will take charge and be responsible for all the various parts that will be necessary for installment in the future?  There is a good possibility that I won’t be around then and therefore can’t guarantee their safe keeping.

See you at the meeting,

Ray

Hi,

Dave told me that if your tech. can handle the upper spring, it’s relative easier to find the riggers to move the Valvebox.   The C-AD tech. installed the spring during

the installation.   Now, to take it apart is easier.  Can you guys do it  in addition to handle the part below ??

Dave tried to reach you earlier and I’m not sure whether you guys have talked.
