Hello Ray and all,

The riggers are taking apart the steel box (used for High-Field Test) and to make sure that we don't lose the two doghouse covers,
Frank Toldo has taken the two covers/doors to his trailer in 1008.   He said that he could deliver to you when they're needed.

The Valvebox stays where it's (i.e., away from the Magnet) and possibly for another two years ... unless there is a need for that space or something.

(1) As Dave said, our techs can drive the man lift to get you up there and you just need to have the simpler fall protection training.  Is this arrangement
OK for you to install the two covers/flange one time ?  { The Cryo group is OK with that. They may not always need to get to the top after they make
the connection at the first time. }

(2) Frank Toldo told me that he's got a box of hardware and stuff when we removed the Valvebox.  I wonder whether you still keep something (another box?)
that you may give him (after you install the covers/flange) for safe-keeping for the next 2+ years ???

Roberto/Ray,

Due to the short time duration of the access I would prefer we use a man lift to access the valvebox extension.

If you don’t have manlift training one of our techs can drive for you, you will still require fall protection training to wear a harness.

Hi Kin,

We will require scaffolding or some sort of work platform to install the doors as I don’t feel that it is safe using just a step ladder.  This should be in place once the solenoid is parked where it will be stored in 912 until its final move to Phenix.  For maintenance purposes you would want a platform anyway to have ready access to the extension where periodic nitrogen gas purging would likely happen.

Regards,

Ray

Dear Ray,

I’m very impressed by your speed action of installing the Extension Struts (support) so quickly.   Thanks a million !!  I just went there to take a look and take

a picture myself.

Can you please install the two doors and the flange at the top to the Extension doghouse so that the Cryo group could do the dry nitrogen purging as we discussed
last week ??  You made the flange already and you even made a hole at the top so that the Cryo group can place their fitting/meter to monitor the nitrogen pressure.
I’ve just checked that the two doors are still on the remaining platform (where you used to stand when you work on the dog house).

Dave Phillips and Brian Strekenbach can help if you need help to raise the heavy doors.  ( I also wonder how you installed those two struts this afternoon !? )After all the installation is done, can you please give to Frank Toldo (of PHENIX/sPHENIX in Physics Dept.) the box of all the parts that you’ve collected since
Feb. 1, 2019 when we removed the Valvebox with all the video taking etc. ?   I believe this is the agreement that Frank and you made at that time.  Frank is

our “keeper” for the parts of the Magnet to avoid further loss.   It’s especially important because you told us that you may not be around in late 2021.  Frank
can come to collect from you if you communicate with him.
