Hi,

Chris Pontieri has organized the meeting below.   It’s a productive meeting that we filled in some details (which may take place at the end of Aug. or early Sept.).

I wrote down a few notes:

--- Mike Gaffney said that the lowest clearance between Bldgs. 912 and 1008 is about 30’.

--- Brian Streckenbach was not in the meeting but I talked with him after the meeting, Brian (with Alex Korol) will be responsible for finding the air-ride truck for shipping the

Magnet Cryostat safely from 912 to 1008.

--- I learnt that M. Ilardo’s group has already made a survey of the Magnet in 912 and the survey group will help determine that the Magnet is in the final location sitting on HCAL (that the doghouse

is levelled …etc. etc.).

--- Once the Magnet Cryostat arrives on the floor of 1008, Ray Ceruti will come (to 1008) to loosen the tie-rods (that we have had tightened for this move) and he’ll also replace the heat-shield restraints with

the “covers” --- which contain linear pots.    After we do that, we’ll lift the Magnet to the HCAL (lower half) of sPHENIX.  Carl’s electrical test will happen after we determine that the Magnet is in its final position.

--- Ray will also help us open the door for the Extension Doghouse and Mike Gaffney said that he’ll allow Ray to go up for this purpose.   Mike also can give a ~20-minute crash course for harness so that one

may stand in the lift to do the test (as long as somebody else is driving the lift).

--- I talked to Piyush Joshi and he’s willing to supply the equipment for the electrical tests and even with a technician.  Hopefully, Piyush’s technician can go up the lift.  Otherwise, we’ll need Mike’s crash course.  Carl said that he

probably likes to take it 😊

There is this meeting of moving the Magnet Cryostat from Bldg. 912 to Bldg. 1008.    We kind of talked about this a couple of months ago.   As the time is getting closer, it’s getting more serious.

Hello Everyone

Starting next week the sphenix team will hopefully resume installation of the Outer HCAL detector.  The current schedule, according to P6, has the team preparing for the magnet installation in late August/early September.  What we would like to do is go through some of the initial setup and installation steps of the magnet with everyone and get feedback from the groups involved.  I have attached the slide deck that will be shown during the meeting in hopes you will have some time to look it over and be prepared to contribute to the discussion.
