Hi,

As you may read from the powerpoint attached, after various leak checks and fixes (in the last month), Paul Orfin and his Cryo group colleagues were finally able to do pressure test for their coax welds (in the Valvebox) which successfully held “test pressure of 96 psi with no change in helium leak rate.”  [ I put it in the calender : https://brookhavenlab.sharepoint.com/sites/sPHENIXMagnet/External/Lists/Calendar/DispForm.aspx?ID=281 ]

We’ll have a meeting this Thursday morning ( 11 am ) with Mike Anerella, Ray Ceruti, Piyush Johsi and others to decide what to do next and in what sequence: hipot, covering with MLI …

Subject: sPHENIX - Solenoid leaks

All,

I believe we have sealed most of the major leaks inside and now outside of the solenoid valve box.  There are still a few actions for the bus bar design to review in the conclusion.

Assuming we have agreement on the leaks, we would like to proceed with covering the lines back with MLI and prepare for sealing up the vacuum interface.

Prior to that, a shipping support needs to be added to the leads for shipment to 1008 from 912.  In a separate meeting/email we will discuss the plan of doing a vacuum test before or after the solenoid is moved to 1008.

Thank you,

Paul Orfin
