sPHENIX discussion of the superconducting solenoid

Hi Dan (and all),

As we talked about (and as I just made the phone call to Piyush), I hope 
to see you in 1008 ( 8-9 am -ish ) Friday morning,  Ray Ceruti said that 
he'd come so that he can show you in front the doghouse.

Ray explained today to me that "indium" needs to be applied before we 
actually insert the chimney of the Valvebox into the doghouse.   Ray 
thinks that applying "indium" to the superconducting bus (in the 
doghouse) may take not more than 1 hour.   We'll talk tomorrow morning 
... ( The current thought is to do the Valvebox installation on Monday.  
You may apply the indium before the riggers start to raise the valvebox. )


I wonder whether you may bring some alcohol Friday morning to clean the 
superconducting busses when you're checking them out ....

PS:

After Ray took off all the restraints, Carl Schultheiss did a hipot test 
successfully, this morning (around 10 am).

After lunch, Ray Ceruti came to install the multi-layer-insulation, heat 
shield and one side of the door.

Carl did another hipot test successfully.  Both time, I was a helper to 
prevent people from approaching the Valvebox.  Carl jumped about 50 V in 
each step and at the instant of applying an increase, you may see an 
instantaneous 50 micro-amp jump but it immediately dropped to 0 at 
steady voltage.   Carl stayed at 520 V for ~>1 minute to make sure that 
there is no leakage current.
