Hi,

Around 11:30 am, Ray Ceruti and his colleagues ( Thomas Van Winckel and Toby Levine) finally completed the task of installing MLI, heat-shield and the door. ( They had to make a

blanket for it as Ray described below. ) This is presumably Ray’s last job for sPHENIX Magnet before his retirement. This Magnet owes a lot to him ! Thanks a million, Ray. And happy

retirement ! ( Ray is a member of this mailing list if you wonder 😊 )

Next, during the usual technician’s tea break, at 3 pm (today), Carl Schultheiss and his tech will try to do another hipot to make sure.

After that, Cryo/Vacuum group can perform the leak check ….

Hi Kin,

We were down in 1008 but had to return to make up a MLI blanket that was missing. Will return around 11:00 or so to finish the installation of the door.

Good Morning Kin,

Yes, I brought extras to account for any missing fasteners. We restored everything the way it was the last time is was assembled. There were more temperature sensors and related wires that we had to work around this time but it went together as it should. I’ll do my best to get down to 1008 today to install the valve box door but my schedule is very tight between meetings.
