OK.  Jim told me that they have closed the pole-tip doors once and it seems that we don't need to remove those brackets.

Please note that the vacuum boundary has already started to be pumped down.  Those brackets appear to have the same bolts as the flange seal.  Removal of those bolts can impact the vacuum so please let us know if any when they will be removed so we can turn off our pumps.

Yes. Those were for the transport braces.

They might have been for the support structure during transportation.

Dear Paul and Mike,

 

Jim showed me these tabs outside of the sPHENIX Magnet Extension close to the Doghouse.  I just took a picture.  They’re kind of close to the pole-tip if we close the pole-tip.

Right now, it’s probably OK by eyeballing but very close.  

 

A tech first thought it was welded but when he looked closer (and now with the pictures), it seems that they’re bolted/screwed.

 

Do they serve any structural or support functions or any functions ?  Can we take them down if necessary ??
