Hi,

(A) Pablo Rosas wants to finish two more tests tomorrow morning:

 (1) pole-tip door --- by exercising closing and opening the door and checking the results on his interlock systems;

 (2) Cryo interlock and permissive signals ; Pablo's team seems to see both signals go down while my impression from the Cryo group is that the problem is only in the "permissive" signal.   So, they want to sort out these two signals with Cryo before connecting with the Magnet.

After all these, we'll do the following at about the same time in the afternoon (after the LOTO is put on) :

 (1) disconnect the short-circuit bar and reconnect the braids;

 (2) put up rope and 5G magnetic field signs;

 (3) Carl will connect his two voltage-tap wires.  ( What else ?! )

Then, we can start the cold-test procedures in earnest ...

(B) There is a problem with the LOTO procedure done by the CAS.   There was a meeting at 2:30 pm this afternoon (with people such as Jon Sandberg, Frank Craner, Pablo and BNL LOTO experts) and it seems that they had an agreement --- probably not in the version that we'd most prefer.  From now on, we can't use "CAS" LOTO/tag and each CAS member has to use his own personal LOTO/tag.  This affects the CAS operation so that they may need to take off one person's lock and replace with another person's lock in their shift change (etc.).

Frank Craner and Pablo will complete writing the new procedures by tomorrow morning.

 (1) Before we connect the braids, Pablo told me that one of the CAS member would LOTO the power supply.  ( Other people like the mechanical group can add their lock of course. )

 (2) For us, nothing really changes.  sPHENIX staff will add our locks to the LOTO box.

[ Pablo educated me --- I actually read that but didn't think about it much until now :

  (i) for going into the bore of the Magnet, we have to use BNL LOTO;

  (ii) if we don't go into the bore of the Magnet, in principle, we have the option to use the lock of "C-AD Operation Lockout".  But just as Pablo said, sPHENIX folks may not want to know about this confusion and just use the BNL LOTO/tag 🙁  ]

(C) Jesse Fite came again at 3 pm at 1008-IR to check our Magnet (that there are no unreasonable amount of metallic scraps that may hurt our magnet. He advised and pointed out a couple things. We'll either blow or vacuum the gap between the pole-tip doors and the rest of magnet as there are some metallic dirt.  At the end, he signed off (thank you !) and put his sticker on the magnet which I attached a picture.  ( Somehow, Jesse put Jim Mills' name on that sticker 😁 M. Albanese is sPHENIX Liaison Engineer.  Jesse just came to my office and he's going to send out the signed form to us and I asked him to send to our Liaison Physicist as well. )

... So, I've obtained signatures on 3 of my 7 items in the checkoff list before we can start operating the magnet.

Kin
