Eric, Thanks for the reply .

Hopefully, there is less burping now ... I haven't gone there to check as I am stuck in the sPHENIX meeting.

Kin

Paul and Kin,

We all spoke about a course of action for this issue. We switched operational mode from simultaneous to off – everything is closed now and will observe to see if V1A vacuum levels increase to indicate if there is a leak or not if it should reach E-02 for instance. The system will continue burping here and there until it warms up more.

Kin,

The housing with the solenoid inside from that picture you sent does have an air leak that has been known since September, but it is not a vacuum leak. The air hissing noise every 10-15 seconds was from the cycling of the valve every time air is supplied to close the valve.

Brian and I will continue monitoring and provide updates, as necessary.

Thank you

All,

This sounds like the issue I brought up back on Tuesday.  I thought someone looked at this issue?

I’m not sure what state the vacuum system is in but consider leaving it in a manual mode with either the turbo on or off.  This excessive cycling will not be good on those V1 valves.

Thank you,

Dear Roberto and Chintan and all,

I don't go to 1008-IR as often as I used to a month ago.

Today, as I told you over the phone, I heard the noise from the upper platform every 10-15 seconds or so.  After our phone call, I walked up the platform and chased the noise to this piece of Cryo equipment.  I am sure it's this because I felt the release of gas/air with my hand, in addition to the noise.  Somebody wrote "leaking" in red.

I don't remember hearing this during magnet mapping.  Is this OK ?  Something broken ?

We are not doing any cooling any more.  Why is it doing this ?

( Technicians told me that it has been like that for some time. It may stop in the morning and then will happen again in the evening. )

Kin
