FYI,

Per Mandy’s email from this morning, we will share the beam with ATLAS group during the week of May 20-24, likely the evening shifts.

All 10 groups will be sharing time with each other. Ming, if your group is the only one coming and Rachid’s group is not, then I will ask that you share the time with ATLAS as well. Tom, if you are the only group from here running June 17 – June 21, I will also ask you to share your time with CMS. In this case, Ming and Tom, your groups will be primary for 12 hours per day, while ATLAS and CMS will be primary during the other 12 hours per day. You can still take data 24 hours, but will only be in charge of accesses and intensity/beam energy during your time frame.

Cheers,

Ming

Hi sPHENIX MVTX test beam participants –

A quick update on MVTX test beam schedule, see email below from Mandy.

Our plan is to take data with MVTX telescope May 20-24 (Mon-Fri), and disassemble them on Saturday 5/25 (or Tuesday 5/28, if technicians are not available during the long weekend, Monday is a holiday).

The safety review will be on May 16(Thur.), and the class room safety training on ~Wed. if possible.

I will try to ship the telescope and electronics earlier, either this Friday or next Monday 5/6! It takes ~ 1 week for them to arrive at Fermilab.

Please try to arrive at Fermilab no later than Tue 5/14.

VERY IMPORTANT  message from Mandy – “ all collaborators who are not US citizens must submit CVs in order to get an ID to be onsite. Even if the collaborator is not doing controlled accesses or is just sitting in the control room. Everyone has to have an ID. It can take several weeks to get the paperwork in order, so please make sure to submit as soon as possible.

Cheers,

Ming

PS – I plan to be at Fermilab May 13 (Mon).

Subject: reduction in beam time at FTBF

Hi Everyone,

It is all but official now that we will go to this running mode of 9 days off, 5 days on. I have time set aside May 20 – May 24 for this group. Tom, Klaus, I have you running later in June. I included you here in case you can come earlier.  In theory, beam will be available at 8am May 20th  until 8am on Saturday May 25th.

Ming, I saw your email about dates. Yes, I would like you guys to come the week of May 13. You think the telescope will arrive May 15? Any chance it can come earlier? And will you guys be able to arrive earlier? I would prefer to do the safety inspection on Thursday, because sometimes it is hard to get a committee on Friday. However, if there is no chance, then we’ll have to make do. We will do classroom trainings that week. Again, if we can do earlier in the week that’s easier.

Apologies – but sometimes you guys come as multiple groups. I want to make sure I understand who is coming. I believe it is MVTX (Sho and Ming, T1441, coming in under T1044) and T1439, INTT, Rachid and company. Is there any other group coming at that time? Is there any other group that could possibly want beam time this year? Because those 5 days are pretty much it. If you know of any other group that you can run with or have plans with, please make sure they get in contact with me.

Later this week, I’ll prepare the ORCs so you can start filling them in.

Please let me know if there are any questions.

Thanks,

Mandy
