Commissioning and running of sPHENIX

Hi, Frank and Chris,

 

As the email below shows (and I’ve made a phone call), the plan has changed such that there will be no beam on Tuesday even after Pablo finishes testing for the day.

 

This way, Wed. morning, we may go into the 1008-IR as early as we want, such that the installation of the blower can be done earlier and we do not need until 8 am.  

And Pablo and his team can continue to test/ramp the magnet hopefully soon after 8 am.   ( Pablo needs to LOTO the Power Supply Tue. night.  )

Hi,

 The bridge block in front of the 56 MHz cryomodule needs to be removed from the 4 o'clock due the area needing additional procedures due to the space being classified as a class 2C confined space.  The urgency is due to the availability of a two day maintenance period within this run and that the 56 MHz controls design will require full access to the cavity fundamental damper and other subsystems. With that, it has been proposed that Tuesday and Wednesday we dedicate time for not only the sPHENIX magnet ramp test but also to remove the bridge.

 The schedule for Tuesday and Wednesday becomes:

Tuesday 05/30/23

      sPHENIX magnet cooled  

      sPHENIX solenoid ramp test starting at 0800

      bridge block removal 4 o'clock

      No beam overnight

Wednesday:
      Maintenance 0800 → 2200
