Notes from 5/30 Time Meeting
sPHENIX magnet will suppress electron clouds in beam pipe; a couple hundred gauss will be enough, makes for lower backgrounds, good to keep in mind for MVTX commissioning
STAR has taken 330 M mbias events
- sTGC tracker that had suffered beam loss damage is operational again
- still seeing background events (see attached image below): right picture is about size of sPHENIX magnet bore
Transfer switch test at 1008 tomorrow morning 9:30am-10:00am (emergency power)
Notes from 5/30 Coordination Meeting
- pause magnet ramping tomorrow during transfer switch test
- STAR DAQ limited to about 2 kHz (also limiting ZDC rate to 10 kHz via leveling)
- DAQ rate expected to upgrade to 5 kHz in 3 weeks, then level to about 14 kHz (to be determined)
- maintenance work finished early, beam overnight!—will be dumped at 7:00am tomorrow to continue magnet ramping tests
- stochastic cooling setup might take whole day Thursday, i.e. we might want to postpone turning on our magnet until Friday
