Good Afternoon Everyone,

 

Today we made the initial entry into building 1004B. The cryo and power supply groups are working still to understand what exactly occurred.  For the time being, we will be restricting access to the building to only those workers who are involved in the repairs of the valvebox as conditions are still evolving.  Cryo, power supply, vacuum, and ESSHQ may enter.  Others will require permission from Ray Fliller or Frank Craner, to enter the building.

 

    A note on safety:  We are anticipating that this will not be an easy fix.  There may be a lot of hazardous work involved – ODH, confined space, heights, electrical, LOTO.  We are all anxious to get the valve box repaired, and we will be very focused on the job.  Even today, I was made aware of a hazard that I stood right in front of and did not see.  Please be aware of your surroundings, and do not rush.  The extra few minutes you take to doo the job right and safely, will spare an injury.  We do want to see what the damage inside the valvebox is and repair it, but at nobody’s expense.
