Dear all,
Here is the today’s SCM minutes.
Best,
Maya

General (Stefan/Kin)
From today’s 9 o’clock meeting
Tuesday’s QLI went as normal for first 60 ms after the event (i.e. magnet currents decreased), but then a short going through the valve box (for the next 60 ms) reverted quad current trend, which then developed the vacuum leak. This happened in dipole and quad lines simultaneously.
The valve box is the transition between the warm power supply and the cold magnet.
It’s not understood how both dipole and quad lines are affected simultaneously.
Significant amount of electromagnetic energy got dumped into the valve box (several MJ)
It is possible that this caused additional damage beyond the mechanical damage that caused the helium leak
Current Priority Items (PC) (unchanged)
Commission TPC spark protection system
Commission TPC diffuse laser system
Commission MVTX read-out to deal with background events
Increase DAQ reliability and speed
Work Control Coordinators (Chris/Joel)
Chris
ECW was introduced to SEPD, connections are being physically checked for leaks every couple of hours. Everything looks good so far.
Joel
Our water leak detection system for sEPD cooling panels will be in place by tomorrow or early next week.
The access Controls camera used for CA mode is finally installed and ready for MCR usage.
TPOT - The material for the gas detection system is in-hand, and it's ready for installation.
Plan of the Day (Stefan/PC/all–to be revisited at end of meeting)
Cosmics running with HCal, TPOT
Will try to include MVTX in cosmics data taking tomorrow
TPC work
Attempt to include MVTX in big partition as test this afternoon
========================================================================
Evening (Ross)
DAQ was under supervision of Dan and Emma working on HCal/cosmic trigger for most of the night
Returned to 'normal' operations with HCal cosmics and hourly LEDs about 11pm.
Attempted unsuccessfully to add TPOT to big partition. Spoke with Hugo, and returned to 'safe' until he looks at it.
Night (Joey)
Took cosmics and ~hourly LED data
Board in rack 1E1 crate 3 slot 3 was found to have no LEDs on, likely needs replacement
Plan to replace tonight during shift
Day (Tristan)
HCal + TPOT cosmics until ~10:00
Trigger work to set up OHCal coincidence through center of detector
INTT LAD2 chiller stopped ~10:00, Rob and Rachid contacted, Rob restored chiller around 12:15
TPC spark monitor installed
Back to HCal + TPOT cosmics, though there seem to be hot tower issues
Sal replaced a fuse on EMCal electronics
TPC + MVTX work in background
MCR let us know that cryo gave us the go-ahead to turn our magnet back on when we wish
========================================================================
Magnet (Kin)
Our Magnet in principle can be turned on now as I’ve confirmed with the Cryo.
MBD (Mickey, Lameck)
Nothing to report.
Trigger (Dan)
New cosmic trigger :https://sphenix-intra.sdcc.bnl.gov/WWW/elog/Trigger/42
Coincidence between a 2m (z) by 4m (x) area in the top and bottom of OHCAL (60Hz)
Set up is in ELOG.
Cannot be taken alongside the full OHCAL cosmic trigger.
GTM/GL1 (Martin/Dan/John K)
Are {TPC,MVTX} still using GTM1, or can I take control?
The answer is YES. TPC and MVTX need GTM1.
DAQ (Martin/John H)
MVTX (Cameron)
We see GTM FEM data on the MVTX telescope ILA in Global Mode with GTM1
Next steps:
Test MVTX can take data in Global Mode on GTM1 (After SCM)
Move MVTX to main GTM and integrate into big partition
We need to send a bash command to start continuous readout on each FELIX server after rc_begin but before gtm_startrun. Part of test procedure is to see if we can do this the other way around successfully
TPC (Tom Hemmick, Jin, Takao, Evgeny, Nick, Luke, David, Charles, Bob, Ross, John K.)
Spark protection box installed in 3B7 (TPC HV rack) this morning:
Gain measurement module box alive in Bob’s lab and pressurized with Ar/CF4 (60/40)
Measuring Gain Curve as f( V, T, P) ongoing over next days/week
Important note from Tom: Bench measurements are NECESSARY to determine empirical values of gain parameters - can not do from GARFIELD++/MODEL alone
Testing Spark Monitor now
David from Debrecen monitoring system as HV raised
May also try use laser
Later (tomorrow/weekend/early next week depending on progress)
Cosmics run w/ new HCAL trigger (thanks to Dan & Emma)
Can include other detectors too (TPOT, silicon)
Again depends on making progress with commissioning spark monitoring
May want to wait until spark monitor is commissioned before asking for FIELD ON
We know we (likely) have a closing time window for FIELD ON cosmics
HCal (Emma)
Took cosmics trigger threshold scan last night for single 2x2 tower thresholds of 640 ADC to 4000 ADC https://sphenix-intra.sdcc.bnl.gov/WWW/elog/HCAL/2157
Going to change the preamp board for one persistent hot tower that we still see as hot when taking data with clock trigger and bias voltage off (do not see hot tower with clock trigger, and bias and LV off)
EMCal (Sean)
Replaced fuse on LV power module for sector 58.
TPOT (Hugo)
Troubles including TPOT in big partition last evening due to link between GTM and FELIX needing reset.
TPOT now included in big partition with HCAL for cosmics, and should stays so as much as possible. Working at ~5kHz (limited by HCAL)
GTM-FELIX link reset now included in ebdc39 setup script, called every time the big-partition changes. This should prevent the above to happen
Still checking the automatic clearing of the Felix DMA buffer at start of run though.
Nothing to report on the detector side.
INTT (Genki/Rachid)
No news
sEPD(Rosi/Tristan)
(Sorry - poster judge, I am late)
Yesterday we discovered that the wiring of the cables for the south box was not correct leading to a mismatch between the desired channel and interface board -> Sal is correcting
Sal finished the North and South LV cables and they tested good.
There is an issue being able to configure/ turn on single channels in the second module -> Eric will look into this on Monday
The next thing is to assemble a dual interlock board and wire it in -> Next week

ZDC (John/Peter)
